You may or may not have heard of Wix (http://www.wix.com)it offers a way to create free website and free flash website. They do offer a pay version that will give you a few extra features, but the free version works out beautifully. The ease of click and drop allows anyone to create a great site. They have a wide range of templates that are capable to manipulate. I have started to use Wix for many of my websites and each time I am trying new stuff. Just today I created myself a new website for my domain. I used to use the domain coachburk.com to promote my love of coaching. I even created products for wrestling (t-shirts and the sort) I have evolved the name Coach Burk to almost anything and everything I do. So I changed my coachburk domain to promote myself and have it as an online portfolio and resume.
With the add of mini-pages, you can easily have a header and change the body of the site. You can even add mini-pages inside of mini-pages. You can post media and documents and add rss feed readers and twitter reader to your page. You can go crazy and add animation to text and pictures and have roll-over changes.
I do love Wix, but a few issues: 1) can't embed html yet (I got a tweet back stating it is coming soon, but also saw on a forum was suppose to be here at the beginning of the summer) 2) if I add a rss carousel it will not save. Not sure why but every time I have that problem.
I can live with these problems right now, although I am craving the embed html option. I will be creating a prototype website for my school once I can do that.
You can embed youtube videos though, which has come in handy already on my created family site where I can show off my 3 year old singing.
You can use Wix to create your myspace page and also to create banners. When you are done with creating your site, you publish it, and you can embed it into anyplace you want. After you embed it and you want to change, all you need to do is resave and it will automatically change your site, no need to reembed. I give it two thumbs up but waiting for the HTML!
